My Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach begins with the mindset that personal growth, change, and healing are possible for everyone. My goal is to walk alongside you as we work towards your therapeutic goals. I strive to create a counseling environment that is genuine, nonjudgmental, collaborative, and welcoming.
My therapeutic approach uses a combination of the following: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, aspects of mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy. Each of us comes from a different background; therefore, we all have unique and different experiences. Because of this, I can tailor my therapeutic approach to your current counseling goals. Sometimes, individuals are unsure how to articulate their goals or reasons for seeking counseling; that is something we can work on together.

I grew up in Eagle River, Alaska, and have recently moved to the Chicago area. Outside of counseling, I enjoy going on hikes, walking, reading, traveling, and baking.
I approach relational challenges using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an empirically validated model for both couples and individuals. EFT is grounded in attachment science, focusing on the universal human need for secure, intimate connection. Our work together doesn't dwell on who's right or wrong, but instead dives beneath the conflict to explore the underlying emotions, attachment styles, and protective behaviors that fuel distress.
We zero in on the painful relationship patterns—often the familiar pursue/withdraw cycle—and collaboratively track the steps of this negative cycle. By identifying and understanding the emotional engine driving these dynamics, we can successfully interrupt the cycle and create a safe space for genuine vulnerability. This process allows for the expression of deeper, unmet needs, leading to a profound restructuring of the emotional bond and enabling you to build the secure, resilient relationship you truly desire.
